Lang Town & Country Estate Agents Plymouth

Sunday 18th June saw the first family and friend’s fun day hosted by Lang Town & Country and Mark Holt & Co.

On the hottest day of the year to date, the sun shone down on a host of cheerful attendants enjoying a hog roast, children’s bouncy assault course and family picnics.

The event took place at Plymouth Cricket Club (which Lang Town & Country are sponsors) in Mountwise, ‘The village by the sea’.  Where the Cricket Pavilion offered a full open bar, whilst spectators could take shelter from the heat in the viewing gallery- without missing the highlight event.

The main event of the day was a friendly cricket match between Plymouth’s local business’s Lang Town & Country (Estate and Lettings Agents) and Mark Holt & Co (Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors).

The game itself began with Lang Town & Country winning the coin toss, and taking the decision that Mark Holt & Co were to bat first.  Lang Town & Country took an aggressive stance taking 8 wickets, with some unfortunate near catches by Andy Genge, Tony Targett and Conall Thorneycroft.  Mark Holt & Co were restricted to 130 runs helped by the final partnership of Simon Law and Mark Holt before running out of overs.

Lang Town & Country began their batting with a slow start, however they gained momentum, with batting performances by Director Jay Foster accumulating a quick 25 runs before retiring, followed by a father/son batting combination from Director Richard Rabin and Jack Rabin (age 11), with Jack Rabin making a poignant decision to retire at 14 runs with 2 overs to go in hope that some big hitters could take Lang Town & Country over the line.

Despite being a friendly match and many players having little or no cricket experience the Lang Town & Country team played with great determination and kept a positive stance throughout.  The overall winners of the match were our worthy opponents Mark Holt & Co with a score of 130 to Lang Town & Country’s 117.

The day was a great success with all attendees full of summer cheer and enthusiasm, a fantastic day was had by all and it is hoped that a rematch will take place in the not too distant future.
