Here are FIVE reasons why you should.

1. It gives you something to work towards

Most of us WANT to get fit and healthy, but it’s easier said than done.

At the end of the day, it’s up to you to make the effort.

Running is one of the best – and cheapest – forms of exercise. The most important thing you’ll need is some decent and comfy running shoes. After all, blisters are a runner’s worst friend!

If you want to finish the race – and finish well – you’ll need to train accordingly.

It’s all very well training up to 10 miles and thinking you’ll easily do the rest on the day. But have you actually tried running three more miles AFTER running 10? It’s not easy!

Whether you’re taking part in the Plymouth 5k, Plymouth 10k or Plymouth Half Marathon, you’ll need to build up to the distance gradually.

And don’t forget to stretch! Stretching is a crucial part of any training schedule and will prevent injury down the line.

2. You’ll be raising money for a worthy cause

If you want to add even more pressure, why not raise money for your chosen charity or organisation? That way you’ll HAVE to finish the race to avoid disappointing your loyal sponsors!

This year, the Lang Town & Country team is running in support of The Primrose Foundation and the Plymouth & District Leukaemia Fund.

Both charities have helped our team members through difficult times in the recent past. So, we want to show our gratitude to the people within the charities as well as raise awareness and funds.

3. You’ll get to see more of our wonderful city

The 5k, 10k and half marathon each follow a fabulous route through our wonderful city.

All three races start on the iconic Hoe Promenade and showcase Plymouth’s stunning waterfront and natural harbour.

Is it THE best location for a running race anywhere in Britain? We think so!

4. You’ll receive some official gear!

Every runner who completes their chosen distance will get a medal, and those who complete the 10K and Half Marathon will also receive a T-shirt

So, the next time you’re out on a run, you can wear it with pride and let everyone know you’ve done it. Don’t forget to wave to other finishers!

There’s also a goody bag filled with plenty of exciting things.

5. You can eat a massive breakfast afterwards

The huge sense of accomplishment when you finish goes without saying. But it’s the subsequent breakfast we’re most looking forward to!

Because the races are in the morning, you’ll have plenty of time to wolf down a full English.

What better way to replenish those 1,500 calories you’ve just burned off?
